Music Ministry

Engaging worshipers in encountering Christ through Music

You are cordially invited to participate in our Music Ministry for the praise and worship of God! We ask you to reflect on using your God- given musical talents to help create a more meaningful faith experience for our faith community. Like any other ministry, our Music Ministry is made up of people like yourself!

Extraordinary Ministers

A Graced Ministry

Assist with distributing the Eucharist at Mass, and taking the Eucharist and prayer to the homebound. Candidates expressing a desire to serve must be accepted and appointed by the Pastor.

Lector Ministry

“Assemble the people, men, women and children – that they may hear the law and learn it and carefully observe all the words of the law” (Deut. 31:12).

It is through the Ministry of Lector where God’s living word continues to be proclaimed. As lectors, our task is that of the sower who generously casts the seed on the ground.

Jesus tells us “whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.” When we proclaim the word of God it comes alive and in turn you become the means by which God’s word touches the hearts of those assembled together. Perhaps only a few seeds will take root at any time, but that is certainly something.

Lectors proclaim the first and/or second readings and occasionally the Psalm and General Intercessions at mass and other liturgies through the year with reverence. Our role is not merely to read but to bring the word of God to life for the assembly.

Usher Ministry

“Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!” (Hebrews 13:2)

Our Usher Ministry helps connect people to God by creating an atmosphere of welcome for all who enter our doors. Ushers are also knows as the ministers of first impressions. Each have the ability to provide a safe, comfortable and courteous environment for worship.

Our main purpose is to represent Christ, helping to express the character, openness and friendliness of Holy Child Parish.

Altar Servers

More than ‘Helpers’

“Therefore, in the liturgy, you are much more than simple “helpers of the parish priest.” Above all, you are servers of Jesus Christ, of the eternal High Priest.” Saint John Paul II

As disciples of Jesus Christ, all Christians, young and old, are called to service. A service that moves beyond simply being a helper and in turn also provides an example of prayerful and reverent participation in the liturgy. A participation and practice of self-giving live that characterized our Christian lifestyle.

Youth Servers Needed: Any youth from 3rd grade and higher who has received First Holy Communion

Adult Servers Needed: Any adult who has been Confirmed, is otherwise eligible for ministry, and would like to assist in serving funerals and other parish liturgies as needed

Church Environment Committee

Environment creates that special setting that helps prepares everyone to hear the message of God.

Our Church Environment committee works with the pastor in the decoration and arrangement of the Church for the various seasons of the Liturgical Year and for special celebrations. We assist in the celebration of each liturgical event by decorating our church in accordance to the liturgical calendar of events and colors. Our goal, to bring awareness to the meaning of each color associated with each and in turn to celebrate fully in our Catholic faith.

Altar & Rosary Society

“The greatest method of praying is to pray the Rosary.” St. Francis de Sales

The Society is part of the Rosarian and Sodality movement within the Catholic Church. Our main purpose is the promote devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, particularly through the Rosary. At Holy Child we have assumed responsibility for providing anything necessary for the enhancement of the Sanctuary and the Altar.

In addition we also enjoy social outreach to the women of the parish through our monthly meetings, Christmas Festival tables, Annual Basket Auction and Communion Breakfast.
