Marriage at Holy Child Parish

Marriage Preparation

According to the Gospel of John (Jn 2: 1-12), Jesus performed his first miracle – at his mother’s request – at a wedding feast. The Church sees in Christ’s presence at the wedding at Cana the confirmation of the goodness of marriage and the proclamation that thenceforth marriage will be an efficacious sign of Christ’s presence. Just as water was transformed into wine, the matrimonial covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament (CCC 1601).

Marriage preparation Programs are called Pre Cana because they recall this Gospel passage and remind us that Christ is at the center of every Christian marriage.

Holy Child’s Pre Cana program is held twice a year and offers engaged couples a deeper understanding of the sacrament of Marriage, family life, adjustments on marriage, finances, communication and conflict resolution. Sessions are held on a Friday evening and all day Saturday concluding with the 4 pm Mass.
