Baptism at Holy Child Parish

Baptism

The Gospels tell us that Jesus began his public ministry by having himself baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan River. Though he was without sin, he allowed himself to be numbered among sinners, already “the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world.” Through Baptism, the Christian must go down into the water with Jesus in order to rise with him, be reborn of water and the Spirit…and “walk in newness of life.” (CCC 536-37)

Parents who wish to have their child baptized at Holy Child Parish are required to attend a Pre Jordan class. Godparents are also welcome and encouraged to attend. Classes are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 7 pm. The theology of the sacrament is explored as well as parish guidelines regarding the conferral of the sacrament and the roles of both parents and godparents.

Baptisms are celebrated during Mass at St. Teresa Church on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of most months and at St Maria Goretti Church on the 3rd Sunday of most months.

For more information, to register to attend a Pre Jordan class or to schedule a baptism and contact the parish office at 856-939-1681.
